The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago opened a shelter for residents of Hillside, Addison and Westchester communities today at 4:00 p.m. at the Leyden Township Community Center, 2620 Mannheim Road in Franklin Park.
The Red Cross is providing residents adversely affected by last night's storms a safe, dry place to sleep and eat. Residents of those communities should contact their local emergency management agencies for assistance or call the Red Cross at 312-279-6100 for more information.
The shelter served about 45 meals at dinner Saturday evening. It is estimated that 22 individuals will spend the night. Others from the affected areas are welcome to walk in at anytime.
