What is the difference between the standard CPR class and CPR for the Professional Rescuer class?
CPR is for the general public. CPR for the Professional Rescuer is for individuals who have a job-related duty to respond to emergencies, such as lifeguards and firefighters.

What is the difference between the First Aid Basics class and First Aid: Responding to Emergencies class?
The content of each class is similar, providing instruction on how to handle a variety of medical emergencies such as bleeding, shock and other injuries. First Aid Basics is a four-hour class that uses a video as the primary teaching aid. First Aid: Responding to Emergencies is a two-day, expanded class that provides more information on the topic and is presented in a lecture format.

What is the difference between a review class and a challenge class?
A review class requires that the student have a current and valid certification in the class. It consists of a review of the course material followed by a test. A challenge class does not require a student to have certification. It is a testing session only, containing no review or teaching component. Students must provide their own books for both review and challenge classes.

Yes. We offer Starter Facts: Basic HIV/AIDS Course, which is geared toward the public, and three courses designed for instructors: African-American HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention Instructor, Hispanic HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention Instructor and Basic HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention Instructor.

Our class schedule runs from January-June and July-December. If you don't see any sessions for your desired course, you can call customer service at (312) 729-6132 or check back soon—we usually post class dates about two months in advance. You can also contact your local authorized provider to see if they have any sessions that better fits your schedule. Current authorized provider classes are listed here.
